On 7 September 2010, the book In wrâldreis yn 80 dagen, the first Frisian translation of a Jules Verne novel, was presented at Tresoar in Leeuwarden. This activity was organised on the occasion of the Month of the Frisian Book.
After an introduction by the director of Tresoar, Bert Looper, ...... the president of the Dutch Jules Verne Society, Garmt de Vries-Uiterweerd, gave a lecture on Jules Verne and his works.The translator, Syt Bakker-Palma, shared her experiences.The first copy of the book was presented to sailor and writer Eerde Beulakker ...... who then spoke about Jules Verne’s own sailing trips and on the Jules Verne Trophy.After the break, there was a panel discussion on the importance of translating classics to Frisian.
